RHS Back in Action for 2003-2004 School Year

8/8/03

Lots of exciting events are happening at Rossview High School in preparation for the upcoming school year. Freshmen were oriented to the school earlier this summer in a "Turning Point" session. RHS has had several new faces appear. Following are some new faculty members that have joined us:

(seated in front - Leslie Creech, Pat Thurmond, Ellen Amabile; Standing from left - Shelene Waters, Kristine Einowski, Albert Ciniglio, Sue McGough, Chris Hester, andTerry Teeter)

RHS gained a new Assistant Principal, Mr. Richard McWhirter, from NEHS, replacing half-time Mrs. Rosalyn Williams of Rossview Middle School.

The guidance department has changed secretaries (Mrs. Janice Thompson, former RHS and RMS bookkeeper) will assume the duties of Mrs. Cynde Frederick, who has moved to Central Office.

Another new support staff member is Mrs. Teri Veracco as Attendance Clerk, replacing Mrs. Margie Austin (also gone to Central Office).

The newest Hawk face is Connor Doughty, son of Mrs. Schanda Doughty!

The faculty visited student homes and community areas on Wednesday in a staff development program designed to acquaint the teachers more fully with student environments. Teachers took pictures of assigned areas and then shared their insights with the full faculty in computer presentations that afternoon.

Mrs. Davidson and Mrs. Gregory's FCCLA club has been beautifying the front mulch bed in front of the office and would like to challenge another club to take on the mulch bed in front of the library! Good job, all!

Faculty members have been busy coaching fall sports practices and teams are already playing games (golf, girl's soccer, cross-country). The band is wrapping up two weeks of hot band camp in the practice field under the direction of Tom ("'Ole Crip") Tappscott.

Teachers are expecting to return to school on August 25 for 2 days of inservice before students return on August 27 for a half-day and August 28 for a full day to begin the new school year, pending school board approval and county commission funding.
