Incoming RHS freshmen visit campus

5/20/03

Over 300 8th-grade students from Rossview Middle School attended an overview of high-school life on Monday afternoon in the RHS theater. After a quick stroll from RMS, the students heard presentations from the ASG President, Meredith Hausauer, and the sponsor, Mrs. Carolyn Ferrell. Mr. Michael Tharpe, Athletic Director, gave the incoming athletes lots of good advice, and one of the library media specialists, Mrs. Ellen Taylor, invited the students to attend the summer reading hours (Fridays, 9 A.M. to noon) in the RHS library. AP Phyllis Ervin hosted a fashion show for dress code "do's" and "don't's", and SFC Carol Brewington had her cadets give a quick overview of the JROTC program. A video presentation by the RTV crew demonstrated the various speech and theater possibilities for incoming students, and the ITS (International Thespian Society) members recited a poem "Twas the Night Before High School", written by drama coach LuEllyn Wilcox. Finally, the chorus sang two songs, and the cheerleaders finished up with a rousing routine. RHS would like to welcome our new freshmen! Here are some photos of the occasion:
