Speech Team Earns Third Place at Collierville

The RHS speech team placed 3rd out of 20 schools at the Collierville Speech

Tourney on Saturday, February 5th. It was the largest tournament the school

had ever hosted with over 500 competitors.

 

Individual winners were:

Michael Bergen 1st in storytelling and 2nd in extemporaneous speaking.

Josh Garcia 2nd in poetry and 2nd in impromptu speaking.

Sean Christian Taylor 2nd in dramatic interp and 4th in solo acting.

Reneeka Versey 4th in dramatic and 6th in TV news.

Charrelle Coates 5th in original oratory.

Jonathan Thomason 5th in humorous interpretation.

Shannon O'Neal 6th in original oratory.

Daniel Hernandez 6th in solo acting.

Other team members who competed and contributed to the overall team award

were Ginger Tucker, Matthew Goder, Robin Sloan, Elizabeth Bruce, Haley Hall,

Octavious Padgett, and Nick Quezada.

 

The team also visited the Civil Rights Museum at the historic Lorraine Motel

in Memphis.

 

A big thanks to our chaperones and judges: Mrs. Robinett Versey, Mrs. Sonya

Pollock, former RHS forensics students Jacob Shorter, Shelley Osborne, and

Neely Wall (who drove all the way from Knoxville!)
