Writing Prompts: A. Suppose A is a 2 x 3 matrix and B is a 3 x 2 matrix. Are AB and BA equal? Explain your reasoning and give examples. B. Explain the process you used in the linear programming project and summarize your results.
Code LE's & SPI's Fundamental Course Skills Sample Assignment
Matrices is again a subject covered well in Algebra 2. I will review these techniques with graphing utility and give 2 days for practice. The problems from sections 10.1-10.5 are to be selected as needed.
P Pre-requisite from previous courses. Solve a system by graphing substitution, and elimination,. 2 Days 10.1  p. 748-749  10.2  p. 755-756
P Pre-requisite from previous courses. Solve matrix equations. 10.3  p. 771-773
P Pre-requisite from previous courses. Evaluate determinants of matrices. 10.4   p. 785-786
P Pre-requisite from previous courses. Add, subtract, multiply, and find the inverse of a matrix. 10.5  p. 803-804
The next sections may be new and detailed and will take more than a review.
S SPI 2.3 Analyze functions, such as by decomposing into simpler functions. Partial Fraction Decomposition 2.5 Days ~ 10.6 p. 812-813 #9-39 odd
E An extension of a pre-requisite from previous courses. Systems of Nonlinear Equations. 2 Days ~          10.7 p. 821 #1-49 odd
E SPI 2.5 Use an appropriate technology to solve inequalities. Solve a system of linear inequalities. 1 Day ~                 10.8 p. 20-44 (4ths)
E SPI 1.5 Use models when appropriate to draw conclusions or make predictions.                     LE 1.1 Select and use appropriate algebraic functions to model real-world situations. Find maximum and minimum values of an objective function. 1.5 Days ~             10.9 p. 841 #20-28 & Linear Proramming Project
E SPI 1.5 Use models when appropriate to draw conclusions or make predictions.                     LE 1.1 Select and use appropriate algebraic functions to model real-world situations. Solve problems with linear programming.
This unit will take a total of 9 days. I usually do not give a Chapter test over this chapter.
