One of Mrs. Blevin’s students, Bethany Cathey, made a very colorful poster! This will be on display at the Health Department.
On Tuesday, November 16th, Patti Hill, Health Educator, went to visit Rossview High School. Partnering with Mrs. Blevin’s five different classes throughout the day, she discussed the dangers of smoking. She used models to show the difference between a health lung and a cancerous lung. Air was pumped into both to show how healthy lungs fill up with air and cancerous lungs don’t. The teens used “Smokey Eyes Goggles” to simulate the vision problems caused by macular degeneration. Macular degeneration is a chronic eye disease that causes a lack of central vision. They were asked to toss a ball back and forth. Most found it very difficult to do.
