The RHS student body enjoyed a rambunctious rally today to
encourage the Hawks to victory over the Northeast Eagles! The band
was rocking the gym while students arrived... the choir sang the
national anthem and alma mater... the dance team performed... the
volleyball DISTRICT CHAMPS (go Lady Hawks!) presented their district
plaque to Mr. Myers, followed by the soccer Lady Hawks, who ALSO
presented a DISTRICT win plaque! The cheerleaders wowed the crowd
with their new dance routine, and Kacie Boguskie, RHS twirler,
juggled 3 batons at once in her performance (flawless, as always!).
In high drama, the Hawk mascot (finally named, by the way, "Squawk
the Hawk") was stalked by a scrawny NE Eagle, who was placed under
arrest and taken directly to trial! The presiding judge (Brother
De'Eric Crutchfield) gave prosecuting attorney (Shelby Coates) and
the defense lawyer (Sean Taylor) time to examine the witnesses
(football player Antonio McGougan and cheerleader Laura Witzler), who
determined that the Eagle was spying on the football team and
cheerleaders in hopes of a victory tonight. His plans were foiled
when he was led away and the Hawk was victorious in court, to the
strains of the Hallelujah Chorus! A spirit check was held, with all
the class presidents descending ladders, based on the volume of
cheering. Of course, the freshmen lost, and Freshman Class President
Andy Lambert was drenched by ASB President Meredith Hausauer! The
rally concluded with the Monster Stomp, complete with football
players participating. Following are photos of the event:
