Rossview High School administrators and faculty honored the
recipients of this year's academic awards, joined by local
dignitaries Charles Patterson and Eula Dowdy (School Board members)
and Dr. B.J. Worthington (Chief Academic Officer for CMCSS). The 2002
valedictorian, Jessica White, and the 2002 Salutatorian, Calen
Verbist, were recognized for their accomplishments. Faculty Awards
for Outstanding Senior, the Danforth Award, Best Citizen Awards, and
Outstanding School Leadership Awards were presented by the
administrators. Mrs. Joy Huggins recognized the National Merit
Commended Scholar, Calen Verbist. APSU Director of Admissions, Mr.
Charles McCorkle, awarded 3 scholarships. Katie Hausauer was
recognized for being the first RHS athlete to receive an athletic
scholarship. Other community members joined in presenting various
awards, such as the DAR Good Citizen Award, Woodmen of the World
American History Award, the Hugh O'Brian award, Boys and Girls State
delegates, the U.S. Army and Marine Corps awards, and the Black
History Bowl awards. Department awards were presented by faculty
members Mary Bryant, Tom Tapscott, Andrea Burns, Lee Ellen Beach,
Robin Slack, Angela Smith, Judy Provo, Dr. Kaye Warren, Anita Kirby,
Lonny Baggett, Ben Dager, Christy Houston, and Fred Harper.
