The RHS Speech Team had a fantastic showing at the
Tennessee High School Speech and Drama League State Tournament at
Cookeville High School on Friday and Saturday.
After placing in the top position in the preliminary
round of Interp Theatre competition, SantaLand Diaries, advanced to
the final round giving a show-stopping performance. Their final
placing was #2 in the state. The group includes: Nora Ioane, Molly
Ellis, Lauren Staggs, Michael Bergen, Josh Garcia, Josh Melton, and
Jonathan Thomason.
Winners in individual competition include:
Senior Maggie Smith, State Champion in TV
Newscasting;
Senior Charrelle Coates, 6th in Original
Oratory;
Senior Jonathan Thomason, 6th in Humorous
Interp;
Sophomore Daniel Hernandez, 6th in Solo
Acting;
Freshman Kori Furcolowe, 5th in After Dinner
Speaking.
Rossview had an outstanding showing in student congress
winning 3 of the 6 awards given. Lauren Staggs was chosen
Outstanding Senator (the top award in the senate.)
Molly Ellis was elected Presiding Officer in the
senate.
Haley Hall was elected presiding officer in the
house.
Josh Melton and Nora Ioane were also nominated for top
speaker in their house.
