Spring Band Concerts begin
5/6/04
The RHS String Ensemble and RHS Jazz Band presented an evening of
delightful music on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. The String Ensemble
program featured early classics, then the modern "Fantasia for
Strings", a unique duet of soprano voice (Lisa McAfee) and clarinet
(Nathan Jenkins) accompanied by the strings for "Pie Jesu", a lovely
piano/voice rendition of "How Beautiful" with seniors Whitney
Carver's soprano and Samantha Cunningham's light touch on the piano,
a reprise of "An Irish Party in Third Class" from Titanic, and the
finale of "Mountain Spring", an arrangement from Barrage. Thanks
Strings and Mr. Tapscott for a wonderful musical experience!
The Jazz Band livened up the rest of the evening with exciting
selections such as "Birdland", "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy", "Flip, Flop and
Fly", "Baby Drives a Fast Car", "Mr. Super Hip", and "Achin' and
Breakin' - which featured a sax solo from Mr. T himself!).
Monday evening (May 10 at 7 P.M.) will
feature the RHS Concert and Symphonic Bands in their annual spring
concert.
