Life Choices program presented at assembly

9/9/02

John and Debbie Phillips, of Life Choices Presents, Inc.*, gave students food for thought during a program which focused on the tragedy at Columbine and how poor choices resulted in human loss. Students were encouraged to make good choices in life, knowing that all choices have consequences. The team presented the library with free, autographed copies of Rachel's Tears and The Journal of Rachel Scott, as well as The Book of Hope and Life Choices posters. For more information on the Phillips message, go to http://lifechoicespresents.org. The following is a brief excerpt from their website:

*"Life Choices is a fast-paced, motivational, multi-media event. Using videos, music, sketches, and real life experiences, the Phillips deliver a transparent, applicable, and heart felt program. Life Choices... taking back our youth.

On April 20, 1999, 18-year-old Eric Harris and 17-year-old Dylan Klebold launched a military-like attack inside Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo., killing 13 and injuring more than 20 before taking their own lives. It was the worst incident of school gun violence in U.S. history and a news story that has riveted world attention. John and Debbie's niece Rachel Joy Scott was the first one murdered that day. There is another horrible tragedy happening in America every day. In the next 24 hours, 16 teenagers will feel they've reached a place of hopelessness and end their lives in suicide.

It's Time to Make a Difference!

As a family we are committed to reaching, rescuing, and restoring teenagers and families across North America with the Life Choices program. Each month, Life Choices averages 17 high school assemblies and 9 television, radio, or newspaper interviews with secular media."
