Safety Fair hosted by RHS

4/27/05

In a joint effort by FCCLA, Deputy Sonny Goodowens, and various public and private agencies, a sober message of caution and good decision-making concerning drinking and driving and drug use was brought to the RHS student body. The task force included representatives from the Clarksville Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff's Department, the Emergency Rescue agencies, and legal personnel. A computer presentation discussed traffic fatalities and causes (usually drinking and driving with those under 21). A DVD called "Meth is Death" brought home the dangers and results of methamphetamine use. The 42 names of those killed in Montgomery County due to traffic deaths were read aloud by RHS students. Following the assembly, students were invited outside to view various displays, including Life Flight from Vanderbilt/Gateway hospitals, UPS (who has the safest driving record in the US), the EMS jaws of life, a driving course using goggles that simulated alcohol use, Work Force Essentials driving course information, a "roll-over" demonstration from the TN State Trooper division, the "Meth Mobile" from Fort Campbell, and other interactive displays. Following are photos of the event:
